Brighton Late Night Levy & Hackney alcohol sales cut off times?
2015
Brighton
Following a request by Sussex Police, Brighton & Hove City Council’s Licensing Committee at its meeting on 25 June 2015, requested a report be prepared in respect of a proposed Late Night Levy and how it could be implemented.
The report will now be prepared by the Licensing Department and be considered by the Licensing Committee on 19 November 2015 as to whether the matter will go out to public consultation.

Hackney Council is also considering an amendment to its Licensing Policy including a possible midnight cut off for serving alcohol at some new venues.
The proposal would look to restrict the hours at which alcohol could be served in new bars and pubs until 23.00 from Sunday to Thursday and until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.
New restaurants in “major town centres” such as Dalston would be able to serve alcohol until 01.00.
However, any applicant seeking to operate after those hours will have to apply and have their case judged on evidence and the application’s own individual merits.
The Council are also considering extending the Shoreditch Special Policy Area (SPA), a zone established to control the growth in the number of licensed premises and the relaxation of hours within Dalston’s SPA to “encourage restaurants and cultural activity”.
We shall keep you updated on all developments in respect of both Brighton and Hackney.
